Hello,

I found this email address while trying to find out the rules for discrimination regarding the clothes I wear.

I have been in Tesco Extra, Western Avenue, Cardiff this morning (to buy my sandwich for work) and was commuting on my motorcycle. As I was only going in for a sandwich, i thought it was a waste of time to take my helmet off only to put it back on moments later however this cause more problems than I'd expected. I was tapped on the shoulder while walking to the sandwich isle and when i turned around, was surprised to find the security guard telling me that Tesco has a policy that meant i had to take my helmet off. I asked, 'would you have asked me to do the same if i was wearing a berker?' to which he responded, 'that's not the question now though'. I made it clear to the security guard that I had no argument with him but disagreed with the rule, i took my helmet off and continued to get my sandwich.

After i had paid for my sandwich, i then went to the security stand and asked the guard to show me the sign saying that helmets must be removed. The guard took me to the sign but then told me i was not allowed to take a picture of it without a managers consent (I didn't have time to wait for the manager, i would have been late for work) but that i could take the number off the bottom corner (38517/0).

I don't mind either way, I am willing to take my helmet off every time if EVERYONE has to show their face. If however, they say that I am allowed to wear my safety clothing, I also more than happy for anyone else to wear helmets, berkers, balaclava's or spear their face in toothpaste - as long as there isn't double standards and discriminatory rules.

What a ridiculous and discriminatory rule, please can you tell me what i can do about this?

I have been discriminated against because I am not a Arabian woman, so i cannot be trusted to conceal my face?!

Should I say that i am a member of the Helmet Wearing Safety First Religion?
Should I say that I'm a Arabian, woman and just wear a berker/hajib under my helmet?

Thank you very much in advance of your advice and kindest Regards
