Hello,
I found this email address while trying to find out the rules for discrimination regarding the clothes I wear.
I have been in Tesco Extra, Western Avenue, Cardiff this morning (to buy my sandwich for work) and was commuting on my motorcycle. As I was only going in for a sandwich, i thought it was a waste of time to take my helmet off only to put it back on moments later however this cause more problems than I'd expected. I was tapped on the shoulder while walking to the sandwich isle and when i turned around, was surprised to find the security guard telling me that Tesco has a policy that meant i had to take my helmet off. I asked, 'would you have asked me to do the same if i was wearing a berker?' to which he responded, 'that's not the question now though'. I made it clear to the security guard that I had no argument with him but disagreed with the rule, i took my helmet off and continued to get my sandwich.
After i had paid for my sandwich, i then went to the security stand and asked the guard to show me the sign saying that helmets must be removed. The guard took me to the sign but then told me i was not allowed to take a picture of it without a managers consent (I didn't have time to wait for the manager, i would have been late for work) but that i could take the number off the bottom corner (38517/0).
I don't mind either way, I am willing to take my helmet off every time if EVERYONE has to show their face. If however, they say that I am allowed to wear my safety clothing, I also more than happy for anyone else to wear helmets, berkers, balaclava's or spear their face in toothpaste - as long as there isn't double standards and discriminatory rules.
What a ridiculous and discriminatory rule, please can you tell me what i can do about this?
I have been discriminated against because I am not a Arabian woman, so i cannot be trusted to conceal my face?!
Should I say that i am a member of the Helmet Wearing Safety First Religion?
Should I say that I'm a Arabian, woman and just wear a berker/hajib under my helmet?
Thank you very much in advance of your advice and kindest Regards
I'd forgotten about you again, err... sorry about that blogg.
Here is my sad story for you then; I was simply born at the wrong time:
I went university after grants had been replaced with loans but before the loans were replaced again by grants, as a result, having spent 5 years in Uni, taking the student loan (and working part time throughout the duration of my course) I came out having a loan of £19,554.
I then get a job in IT (after the IT employment market was saturated and the good pay was no more) and eventually got to a pay grade that takes Student loan repayments directly out of your pay. I then, having reached this pay grade, finally managed to get a house (just before the house priced plumeted and put me into negative equity). Then, thinking i would check how much longer the Student Loan Company would be taking over £100 out of my pay monthly, i logged in and found that having left Uni years ago, i now owe £20,869.64.
The
good news is, that the interest rate on this loan has recently dropped to 0% - Well that's good i hear you say?! NO! I started my student loan in 2001 but if i had started it before 1998, i would currently be paying -0.4% (yes, that's right MINUS POINT FOUR) and the government would be reducing my debt but no, not for me - i will have to pay it off. I tried filling in a petition on number10's .gov .website .type .thing only to see that when it was presented with 10's of thousands of signatures saying to wipe these debts, the Computer said no!
The economy has been
fu(ndementally mu)
cked up and so we are all paying more tax to keep the doley's in PS3's and XBoxes, they are increasing the benifits for these people and adding a telephone line tax, re-increasing VAT and god knows what other taxes are yet to be raised to pay of a £300billion debt that I have honestly done by best not to run up... don't get me wrong, i spent my fair share on motorbikes, cars, musical isntruments and computers (including an Xbox) but I'm sure i didn't manage to get it to that amount?!
Ah well, here's to paying for the unemployed scum. Thanks UK Government. I have to stop writing now though, I need to GET BACK TO WORK
But here is my final interesting point... the result to when i will have paid it off... about 17 years from now... oooo, it's going to be a Merry Christmas in 2027 if the government don't find another way to screw me!
